: featured in the movie "Holiday
: Inn", starring Bing, which came out in
: August of '42. Since Bing had already put
: 200 hit records on the charts of those days
: going back to 1931, the record stores
: featured any record of his when it came out.
: Also, since there wasn't nearly as much
: music on the radio then as there would be
: 10-15 years later, airplay wasn't as
: important then.
: Furthermore, being featured in a very
: popular movie back then was really all a
: song needed to stir up demand.
: Keep in mind also, nearly every family in
: the USA had a husband, son or daughter
: overseas in the middle of World War II in
: 1942. "White Christmas" touched so
: many hearts with it's simple wish to be
: where the 'days were merry and bright' and
: families were all together.
