I played indoor hockey against Bob on many occasions, and he in fact supplied my goalkeeping equipment, even taking the troulbe to personally deliver said equipment to my home address. I also played cricket in a Derek Underwood benefit match, needless to say when "I played cricket" suffice to say more time was spent in the field than at the crease.
I too have memories of 2 large sports bags carried by Bob, one purely containing what must be the largest first aid kit ever devised by man!
He always had time for all those who spoke to him, and was always willing to pass on his advice to young players irrespective of their skill level.
His coaching record speaks for itself, who knows he could have been the coach England really needed.
Condolences and thoughts to his family.
