Here in MI, we don't have early voting (or at least not in my precinct, I'm not sure about the rest of the state). I asked my mom about standing in line, but she had said not to worry as we know the ladies who officiate the ballots each election (whether it be local, state or federal, its always the same group of volunteers -we live in a small town) and said it would be no problem for me to take a seat while she waitied in line for the both of us. This makes me happy as I don't want to miss out on my chance to voice my opinion! (albeit not on the forum, that part I'll keep private, lol!)
Something that mom did when I was younger, which I always thought was quite ingenius, was to take me with her when ever she voted, especially in the local votes (because they werent as busy) to show me what the experience was like, what the voting boths looked like, etc. Of course, rules prohibited me from actually watching her vote, but I think the experience in itself was a great learning tool, and prepared me for when I was old enough to vote myself. When I was old enough, my dad & I (because mom & I always went together) would have "competitions" to see who was there first and could claim rights to being the fastest voter, etc... Making it a fun thing in our household made it seem much more like the privilege that it is rather than a "do I have to?" lol!
The funniest thing hapened the other day, when my dad asked who I was voting for - I said "the one running for President silly!!!" You should have seen the look on his face, it was like "I had to ask, didn't I..."
So whom ever you vote for, just make sure you vote!
