Help with MS-Dos(and a quick question about midis)

Can someone help>? When I try to run MSDOS, my computer crashes. It goes to fullscreen, then sleep mode, then it stays like that. CTRL+ALT+DELETE doesn't do anything. How can I fix this? Also, can I get in trouble if I use videogame midis on my game and distribute my game? Any help out there? Thanks
