hi, i would remove the nail for sure. i had this same problem but with my own natural nails. nothing but real nails. i heard about putting vicks vapor rub unter the nail which i do at night. last thing, and i mean the last. i got it in my eye and nobody wants to feel THAT! the results do not happen overnight but i can tell you that it really works! my new growth has been growing in attatched. i have trimmed my nails down so that it's easier to get it further down, but my nails extend over my finger. one of my nails was so separated from my nailbed that i had to cut it down to the half moon. this was when i started using the vicks and now i have a beautiful nail just like it used to be. i am still working on the other 4 but it does take time for them to heal. i hope this helps you and it doesn' cost anything except for the price of a small jar of vicks. remember to have her clean under her nails and scoop the vicks with her infected nail. push it in as far as it can go and when it melts under the nail it seems to slide down further under the nail. remember, right before bed, keep it next to your bed so that it's the last and i mean LAST thing she does. vicks really kills in the eyes!!! take care, tammy
