Can you help me understand the value of the NIT when teams pay more to play in this but will get less payout per team than the D tournament running at the same time? What is the idea behind an NIT? Why is it more expensive, for less of a prize. Hopefully I'm just missing something.

I can't be the only one confused by this (based off of attendance).
