Posted by Joe Utley Same Problem with James Medlin. Born in the 1850's his death certificate says he was the son of Matthew Medlin and ELiza ______. Death Certificate says James and Matthew born in Wake Cty; however, 1920 Census says he was born in Franklin Cty. Can't find a Matthew with James Thomas (middle name per death certificate) in the 1860/1870/1880 census records for Wake or Franklin Cty. Can anyone help me with these folks. This has really been a stumbling block for me over the years. Thanks, Joe

My great Grandmother was Anna Denton born in the 1860's to Crockett and Wilisan(sp) Denton per Anna's death certificate. Both Crockett and Anna were supposedly born in Franklin County. Anna married James Medlin in about 1886. I can find James and Anna in the 1900 and 1920 Census records but can't find anything in the 1870 and 1880 Census records for Crockett and family. Nor can I find anything on Anna and James getting married. Only Crockett I have ever been able to find left Tenn in about 1845 and was in the Upshur Cty Texas Census in 1850 and 1860. No record of him in Texas after that.
