Joyce,
Thank you so much for the information you sent me. I am sure that my fourth great-grandfather who was John Bean Stone Sr. was a brother to Elias M. Stone. Another brother of theirs was William Stone Jr. All born in the Halifax County, Franklin County area. Franklin was at one point a part of Halifax Co. N.C. There is a posted birth of John and Elias being born in Cumberland County, North Carolina but this not so. They lived there at one time in the Cumberland County region or that part that would become northern Moore County, N.C.,. Elias moved and disappeared on me for the greatest while. There was a Elias Stone among the Surry County -- Pilot Mountain--
Stones that I kept getting confused with Elias Stone of my lineage. William Stone Jr. in 1856 at the age of 92/93 years applied for his Revolutionary War Pension Land Grant and Funds. He had misplaced his release papers over the years and when Congress approved the Pension years later he was living in Georgia. He would move on to Rusk-Smith County, Texas where after being a resident for six years his family helped him apply. He had to give any information that could be confirmed from his place of birth in Halifax Co. N.C. to his family moving 50 miles from the Roanoke River in Halifax Co. to Franklin Co., N.C.,. He was 16 years old when he joined the militia to fight in the Revolutionary War. It was his name that I was tickled to learn. He said that he was a JR. so that meant that John ,William Jr., and Elias father was William Stone Sr. I have been searching the records for another given name that William Sr. may have used. I do know that John and William Jr. both had sons that they named Lemuel. John named his son Lemuel Walker Stone. "Walker" was his wife's maiden name. William named his son Lemuel Roberson Stone. In researching families in the
north eastern counties that were settled there were several William Stones' and John Stones'.
I did find in Virginia a William Stone that may have been Elias, John Sr. and Williams' grandparents. The dates would work out just about right. His name was William Stone and his wife was Elizabeth "ROBERSON". It is my beleif that William Jr. gave his son Lemuel the middle name Roberson after his grandmother. There has to be a William Sr. and I am searching for him but before I say for sure, I want as much official documentation as I can find. Hopefully there is no mistake with my findings and with your Elias although you never know. Even wrong information was recorded on death certificates by friends that were guessing and on censuses by the enumerator as he rushed to house to house.
Again I do thank you and ask one more favor and that is to bring and send your lineage up through your parents , brothers and sisters, neices, nephews and your grandchildren for me if you would. I will do the same for you if you want a complete line on what I have as my family lineage.
I will continue to search for more brothers and sisters of Elias, John and William as well as the path to the root of our tree. You can reach me at e-mail; cheap_papa3000@yahoo.com or you postal mail me at; Bill Jones...338 Pyrant Rd.,... Sanford, Lee County, North Carolina 27330.... I look forward to hearing from you again about the findings that I have given and about your immediate family if you wish. All information on living relatives and contributors is held in strict confidentuality and will only be release to other researchers with written permission from the contributor and those who he contributes. Thanks again and talk to you soon.
