- Question on cold air induction for 2010 V6
Posted by IronMaiden on 10/26/2009, 10:53 pm 68.28.169.227
Ok, time for a question for you newer stang gear heads here. I've only found one company that has a cold air induction kit for our new 2010 with a V6. I was just wondering if there is anything else I would need to do for this thing to work right. Or is it just a "bolt on and go" type of thing? I heard someone at a car show this weekend say something about a computer chip for it that would also increase horsepower by up to 30! So, feed me info please! It's time to start adding "stuff" to our new toy!

A new "chip" changes the timing...fuel delivery...electric fan...a bunch of stuff....to get you mo'power! IF you are plannig to do headers...new cats....cold air...taller or fatter tires..etc...be sure and tell the chip maker...so they can customize your chip to work with all your "improvements". All just basic hot-rod-hop-ups.....except the cumputer makes the changes and not you. 6sal6
If it "crackles" like a Pro Mod..thats ALMOST enough cam!!

When my son & I changed the cai on my sons 98 cobra you could actually data log the differennce in intake temps from a metal cold air to a jlt. We use a sct handheld tuner as you (or you tuner) can change anything. We currently run a 93 octane tune on the street & have a nitrous tune for the track. You can also datalog off of a handheld if you hook everything up in just the right order. Hope that helps. Jeff

- I don't know about that....

I bought a GT and thought that 300 horsies would be all I'd need, but that need-for-speed has me thinking about putting a charger on it now that it is out of warranty. But then....there is that rumor of the 400 horsies from a new 5.0 in 2011. That's just a rumor, though.
I can take anything apart.

- That car had a cage - the cage ain't squat without proper install

In the 7th and 8th pictures, you can see the main hoop where it punched through the floor maybe a foot in front of the LR tire. There are some folks over on Corner Carvers who are just way wound tight over this sort of thing for exactly this sort of reason - epic fails like this kill people. Keep the shiny side up wouldya?
