Anyone know of a detergent that can be used to clean tires and white lettering that wont mess up chrome wheels

I use Wesleys tire Cleaner and have not had any problems with it on chrome wheels
It it was easy, anyone could do it.

I've used Wesleys since the '80s when I ran white letter tires. It works very well. I haven't run white letter tires in a long time, but it cleans the black walls very nicely too.
However, don't spray it directly onto your wheels, particularly if your wheels are clear-coated aluminum. It will eventually make the clear-coat start coming off if you apply it to the wheels.

Westley's is good stuff, but keep it off clear coat (and asphalt, for that matter)

Castrol Purple stuff: I spray it on dry tires and leave it while I wash the car. Then I mist the tires with water and a little more Purple stuff. I use a scrub brush. Works great on white letters or black tires. I just replaced my 3 year old, 58K miles RWL tires on my F-150 which I use on a construction project and the white lettering was still bright. The guy at the tire shop even asked me what I use to keep them so nice. I have chrome factory mags btw.

if you have aluminum wheels. The stuff will RUIN a polished aluminum wheel.
My brother did it on the Empi's on his VW a decade ago. It took him 15 hours per wheel to sand/polish them back where they didn't look like hell.
