    Remove the whole thing, rebuild it and go on with life. I had to do one on my 70 convertible a few years ago. I made a three day ordeal out of it, restoring and painting the dash as I went. On a 70, the entire dash can be unbolted, making it a bit easier.
    Be sure you find all the bolts from the engine compartment to the case of the box. One down low was a real PITA.
