Unlike most Chevys [and some Fords], the coil springs on the front of the early Mustangs don't mount between the upper & lower A-arms. The coil spring mounts on top of the upper A-arm. Since the coil spring is what holds the body of the car up and determines the car's height, it is plain to see that if you move the upper arm down, that will drop the height of the coil spring which in turn drops the body of the car. Very simple.
