Im with MustangSteve on that one. You can pick up a 97-00 for $5500 around here with 4x4. They have anywhere from 120k to 150k. If they have been taken care of you really dont have to do much with them except general maintenace and drive them. Id steer away from the 78 Ford for a daily driver. My buddy did that for his work vehical a few years back. He was stranded a few times and he was constantly replacing and fixing something. I think the biggest thing was the steering box. He had a hard time finding one for a 78.
