The lower control arm and the sway bar will hold it up. The sway bar will try to keep the lower control arm parallel to the one on the other side of the car. That is why you will have to push down on the spindle to get it to come out of the ball joint stud. Spindle will try to fall over and can stress the brake hose if you don't keep it in line, but it can't really go anywhere.
