On the advice of this awesome forum I switched my radiator to a 3-core aluminum with dual 12" electric fans and it completely eliminated the overheating problems with my 68 (302 engine). However I noticed that when the fans power up the voltage goes down to under 12 volts, causing my battery to drain. Just last year I upgraded my alternator to a 160 amp 4G model but it apparently isn't doing the job. I tested this by disconnecting the battery while the engine was running and the alternator continued to power the engine. However when I manually turned the fans on the engine cut out. Should I try to get a replacement (amp is still under warranty)?
Thanks!
