May sound dumb, but check your air cleaner/filter.
Have had the experience of filter being blown out with compressed air and "looking" clean but not enough air flow to do the job. Car ran great with cleaner off but coughed and spluttered when stomped on with cleaner on.
Discovered after rebuildind carb twice. Good luck
