Dear Frank:
You'll be pleased to know that I am a "ThunderCats" fan too. I own the whole series on DVD. What you said about the first DVD volume was true, and actually I feel for you. The quality of some of the episodes were problematic -- a frame flickering in the first episode, no music in the second, and the opening "Closed Captioning" content appearing in episodes 10 and 11. I deduced the first episode could've at least been a 1986 Lorimar-Telepictures print (minus the opening "CC" content) and the second episode an LJN print with its music intact (LJN sponsored "T'Cats" at that time). The reason for the "CC" logo appearing in the opening credits in episodes 10 and 11 is because both prints, I believe, are from '87 (the first 65 episodes were originally Telepix prints and continued to run under the L-T name when both companies merged in '86). This problem occured in all the first season episodes while it was under the L-T name, and it continued onto the additional 25 episodes of the show for the '88 year. This was also spotted on "T'Cats"' sister show, "SilverHawks," which lasted for only one season (the show is from '86, but in '87, the "CC" logo appeared in every episode opening). But also, I sensed that the picture and sound in both shows were given more richness than when they originally aired, the picture being slightly more vibrant and the sound having more depth. It's kinda strange, but I like it. You might have a hard time with that, however, and I'll accept that. That's it for me. Gotta blast (to quote the famous Jimmy Neutron)!
