Walked from the "Y" up to the McGill trailhead and skiied up a mile or two and back. About 6-8" coverage. Snow seemed fairly heavy, compressed well. No crust to speak of. Snow flurries from 3pm (when I got there) to 4 or 4:30, but not much new coverage.
Passed 2 other parties on the way up. The trail has a compressed track now but that should fill in if it snows this weekend like expected.
Mt. Pinos road was barricaded just beyond the "Y" parking lot but I saw no ice on the road as far as the McGill trailhead.
