Rio - a good spot is a modest hill with a safe runout at the bottom. Choose a spot that does not end in a road or on the bumper of parked cars. Look for a slope that does not have trees or other immovable obstacles.
Many people sled at the top of Mt. Pinos road, however not all areas are safe. Injuries are common, so evaluate your opportunities cautiously.
I'm under the impression that when the snow line drops low enough, there might be a hill off the main road near Lockwood Valley. Perhaps if you call the ranger office they can point you in the right direction.
