This was one huge slab avalanche (4/17/06). Apparently they performed ava control earlier that morning, but not quite enough to trigger this big one (at least right away). Truly sobering how these deep snows are playing out.
Apparently no one was found in a fine probe search - miraculously. The new owners of Mammoth must be looking forward to the end of the season...
