My great grandmother iola frances sutton sweeney, or frances iola sutton sweeeney was married to john w. sweeney. she gave her children up for adoption when he ran off with another women and left them without, food clothes or shelter. she was ill an unable to care for them according to adoption papers. i know two of her five children were given to a church adoption agency in louisville,ky. my grandmother frances and her brother walter. she was two and he was four. this was around 1911. the family was from washington county, kentucky. walter was toungetied. iola's father was william e. sutton b 1856 and emma frances her mother in 1860 ky. emma's name is listed several different ways. the family was listed in the ky 1980-1920 census in mackville and willisburg ky. and then in the 1930 covington, ky census, marion thier son, a nephew named shannon and her mother frances. everyone else had disapeared. this has been a family mystery for years. we would like to verify the story and learn the fate of all of the sutton brother and sisters. iola's was born in 1877 ,may in 1883, birtha l. b 1885, astre? p. b.1887, maggie o. b 1890. georgette or georgia d. b 1892, irene b 1894 and a son named marion s. sutton b 1897 and the sweeney clan as i can not locate my grandma's brothers and sisters. if anyone has any information on this family please e-mail me. thank you, pam
