I have traced my family tree but can go no further than my g,g,grandfather. I can validate all info I have leading up to him and now, after several years, I have hit a brick wall. His name is John Roten, born in Virginia around 1821 to 1824 respectfully. The only solid evidence I have on him is the Salyersville, Magoffin County Census record of 1870. He is listed as a shoemaker with some personal property with the value of $115.00. His wife and children are also listed. Would you have any other records concerning him, either taxes, business or land? Any thing you have would be greatly appreciated.
