Could you give me any more information about Ellen? Do you have a birth year and birth county for her. I may be able to help with a little more information. I have access to a lot more material than I did when I posted my original message. My grandmother Sallie Smith told my mother that her father had been murdered because of a feud. Apparently, everyone knew who had killed him. My grandmothers brother had said that when he grew up, he was going to kill the man that killed his father. Years later, this man was found hanging in his barn. My grandmothers brother said he had killed him. I haven't been able to find out much about this feud. There was supposed to have been quite a few murders. I guess I'll have to make a trip to Kentucky and try to find some newspaper archives. I would think that it would have been reported somewhere.
