Aging Mastiffs Posted by matty27 on April 23, 2009, 1:09 am Hi, I have a seven year old DDB he is my first mastiff type dog. Over the last couple of months he has really slowed down. Very slow getting up and sometimes will choose not to go out for a walk. He is eating great and seems healthy in every other way. Is this a normal age for a big dog to start slowing down?  Post a Response

It could be something as simple as hypthyroid or arthritis both of which are treatable. Don't just let him struggle especially if he seems to be in pain. There are too many treatments to try now. I'd take him in for a senior wellness panel and make sure everything looks good. I'd reccomend starting him on some suppliments as well to help provide some extra nutrients his body will need.  Post a Response
