Trying to find my Cane Corso's parents (Buffalo NY)! Posted by Tobbio on April 9, 2009, 6:06 pm Hi all! I recently rescued a 9 month old Cane Corso anmed Tucker.(pic below) He is a great addition to my family. The only problem is the people who gave him up didn't care much about the dogs past. I was told that he was from Lockport NY but could not find any breeders in the area. Jeannine De Palma steered me towrds this site in hope of finding out more info about my boy! Thanks Jeannine! All we know thus far is that he was born somewhere here in the buffalo possibly Lockport area on July 10 2008. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.  Post a Response

I live in Buffalo NY and own a 5yo CC. I know a few of the local breeders. If you email some of your dogs lines i may be able to help you out. its sad but most of the CC breeders in WNY are not the most ethical breeders around.Im not gonna get into the politics or name names on this board. I don't know anything about his lines thats the sad part. I was speaking to the woman who originally rescued him before I got him today. She told me that the peole who gave him up had papers and everything for him they just didnt know where they were. I was lucky to get the birthdate, and I would hate to bug them about it. I'm sure there kicking themselves in the ass for giving up this dog. All i have as of now is the birthdate 7/10/09 I have my fingers crossed that the CCAA will be able to help.I emailed them today. Is there any clubs that get together large breed dogs for play time in the city? I know Rochester has one. Looking for fun stuff for him to do in the summer.  Post a Response

Contact Kristie Hodas at the ICCF, which is the registry. I am not sure if she can help you. I ahve rescued many dogs and not had their pedigree, and they have made wondeful pets regardless. As far as dog parks go I never let my CC off leash in public. Hes not dog or people agressive I just dont trust other peoples dogs. Alot of folks around here insist on letting there Bully Breeds off leash in dog parks a great way to give BSL more ammo. I take my dogs to Angola state park on a private beach to swim in the summer and set up a spring pole in my yard. Try Chestnut Ridge or Allegany state park for a change of pace, lots of trees to pee on..lol. JD had a great show in Lockport with Judges doin evaluations and stuff. It really let you know where your dog stood. If she does it again you should look into going.  Post a Response

For a rescued pet their lineage is pretty irrelevant even from the standpoint of health issues because whatever issues he may have will just have to be dealt with and should be head off with regular physical examinations and blood work. In my experience there are quite a few breeders that aren't very forth coming with their litters' faults anyway. Being "assured he is a champion" will only buy you a cup of coffee if you have $2 also.  Post a Response

I do take my other dogs to dog parks at certain times, with dogs I know. Not everyone at a dog park is knowledgable about their dogs behaviors.  Post a Response
