a torn ear flap bleed like crazy??? Ever seen what happens to a torn ear flap through a hard winter like the one we're having in Wyoming at the moment? (our high today is 2)... Have you ever seen a tail that has been split open so many times that it is now basically a club at the end full of scar tissue... Ever seen what happens to such things in the cold??? Ever seen a tail smashed in a gate or a door? Ever seen a dog in a fight for the protection of his or her flock with one or two other dogs or wolves hanging from his ears???
Seriously...preventative measures for cropping and docking are medical enough for me...if I had Dane pups I'd seriously think of cropping AND docking just to keep from dealing with needless injuries down the road. I'm dang glad Datvi my CO has no ears to worry about in a fight or the cold etc...talk about headache and needless pain...
If we're going to outlaw this stuff without recognizing a certain need for it then we really need to outlaw the peircing of a child's ear before he/she can consent... Same difference really...except that's ONLY for looks in ANY case.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
