I use martingales in my classes along with flat buckle collars.
I prefer the ones that are all fabric but for some dogs, will use the ones that are chain and fabric.
Get one that you can adjust the fit of - not all you can.
I prefer the ones made by Premiere.
NEVER leave on as a general wear collar as it WILL tighten and can choke a dog. But I like them as if fitted properly, dogs cannot pull them off as easily as a buckle collar. Nor do I have to worry about a student fogetting to loosen a buckle collar after class (I like buckles to be loose enough to slip off of it gets snagged). I can not trust my students to take the class collar off after class if it is a buckle collar.
The pull is different from a traditional choke and can be a bit easier but a dog can still cause neck damage with ANY collar or head halter.
