Now, and I hope K weighs in - the Mastiff we have here in the US is analogous to the UK Mastiff with a couple variations (we are not an FCI memebr country). Similar to the UK Sheltie std and AKC std have a few differences but I can still take my AKC Shelties to the UK and show at Crufts or other shows in the British Isles even with subtle differences in the standards... Or my Great Pyr for that matter if she was showable - actually her sire is an UK import.

You see the same thing in Labs -
From the looks of it - there really should not be much if a difference between the breeds.
Now someone please prove me wrong! But when I went to the English Std and the American Std and clubs - it got me wondering...
