When I had my Tosa, Laura who was a breeder and also did rescue, was beyond generous with her experience and advice. She wasn't even the breeder of my dog. I am forever thankful for her kindness for my girl and also for the many neglected, homeless animals she worked so hard to help.

I know someone else who does Pit rescue and is very knowlegeable about bully breeds.

The screening for my latest rescue dog, a Presa/Corso mix, was thorough but not over the top and imo with these breeds it is particularily important that the new home is suitable.
