Well I'm not an expert but i have read that rotties originated from the molossus a mastiff-type dog with extreme power and large size. They brgan as the roman's war dog. And I also have read that they originally came in other colors such as brindle, red/tan, gray, yellow/black. Now in my opinion a lot of the rotties today are watered down.
