If you get a well bred more common breed and do your job as an owner, my feeling is you may be better off than getting a rarer breed when you (and this is a general "you" and not specifically at YOU) are not really ready for one.
I have always owned a very common breed but have gone through good breeders for my dogs and the difference in amazing!
Even my rescue Pyr was from a good breeder - a lot of dog but far better than the ones that are being haphazrdly bred by some doofus locally who is also breeding wolf hybrids and was considering crossing them with a Pyr!
