Could the lawsuit possibly be the huge class action suit brought against Shell? They made polybutylene plumbing that was the norm in that generation manufactured home regardless of brand. If memory serves me, the lawsuit settlement worked this way: if home owners (with polybutylene plumbing) had one documented leak, participants in the suit would have the repair paid for; with two or more documented leaks, the consumers could get their entire plumbing system replaced by a better product at no cost.
