: The problems that Bethany has
: documented on her Southern Energy
: Home are indeed nightmares. I am
: Bethany's mother and was totally
: appalled at the poor customer
: service, the demand for total
: payment for the home before set-up
: (taking away all critical leverage
: at that point) and the extremely
: disappointing and poor workmanship
: throughout this home. The first
: little rainfall after the house was
: set resulted in a puddle of water in
: the bathroom window, running down
: the wall and into the floor. The
: humps in the carpeting are high
: enough to trip a person not
: accustomed to having to "step
: over" the carpeting. The
: kitchen peninsula is so fragile that
: everyone is warned not to lean on or
: place any heavy objects on the
: outside perimeter of the peninsula.
: And, I believe that the style of the
: peninsula was pitched by the
: salesman to be "a step up --
: you will love it!" This comment
: was made after a problem was
: encountered with the originally
: planned countertop (the Company's
: problem, not the Homeowner's, I
: might add!). This "step
: up" is very poorly designed. It
: is one piece of countertop set
: directly on top of the base
: countertop, leaving very little room
: on the outside of the peninsula for
: a dinner plate. The
: "kickplate" that had to be
: installed just to cover the
: nightmare void between the
: foundation wall and the house bottom
: sills was a very considerable extra
: expense and was just another proof
: of the very poor engineering the
: "set-up specialists"
: provide. The most heartbreaking
: event of the whole ordeal is the
: disappointment that this young
: family has been forced to accept
: instead of the joy at planning their
: future in their new home. Will the
: house stand without being bowed in
: the middle like a broken work horse?
: Is it even safe? With the poor
: quality of components in this home,
: most features will demand
: replacement in a very short while.
: The doors and windows are extremely
: ill-fitting and do not close as a
: new window should. Now, this family
: faces the extra expense of a lawyer
: on top of mortgage expense for this
: cheaply made, badly serviced, money
: pit of a house. Any input or help
: that you might be able to extend to
: Bethany would be greatly appreciated
: -- and as she stated, check and
I am a resident of North Carolina and would like to know themanufacturers name and location as I have been considering buying either a manufactured or modular home,of course MONEY was a big factor are there no building or safety codes involved were there any inspections, was there any warranty involved I found this site by accident I am therefore not privy to Bethany's whole saga. Please clue me in I can't afford a costly mistake.
