Posted by Wes Johnson I posted these notices on every manufactured housing forum that I was aware of for EXACTLY (please excuse the shouting) the reasons I stated: I'm trying to put together a resource for consumers to help them obtain an attorney for a class-action lawsuit; or barring that, to at least allow individual victims to share their information/depositions with others to help them with individual cases both in terms of evidence and cost. What I "have to offer" you is exactly what I stated. Where forums permit I have included a link to my web site with a graphic, just as I have here. I was offering my time without remuneration in an effort to help others by organizing this information. I have personally hired an attorney and am pursuing an individual lawsuit. I, too, have scores of photos, stacks of videotape, reports from engineers, and more. If you doubt my seriousness, all you would have to do is look on my web site to see what Clayton homes put my wife and I through. You imply that I'm "all talk and no action," when in fact my own experiences led me to research for three years, write a book on the subject, and find a publisher. This was a labor of love to help others. For three years of my life I took time and income away from my family because I felt this was an important project. Millions of people in this country have been victimized by this industry, and millions more will be. By making this book available, I hope to save people the agony that you have experienced. I won't make a dime off of it for over another year, and it will never earn what I would have otherwise made. You also indicate that most of the material in my book is available for free on your web site. I find that highly unlikely. For starters, you don't know what the contents of my book are. The only thing publicly available regarding that material is an annotated table of contents which I have provided on my web site. How can you possibly purport that you provide the information my book does when you don't know what that is? Three years of research, interviews, and hard experience went into this book and you couldn't fit it on your web site if you tried. Do I want people to know about my book? You better believe it; I wish such a book had been available before we purchased our Clayton home. I think it could is saved you a lot of grief, too. I think what bothers me most is that you don't know me, yet you impugn my motives. You seem to imply I used an alias on Yahoo for some nefarious reasons. In fact, when I signed up on Yahoo, I was asked to provide an ID or screen name. As I'm sure you know, that's fairly standard practice. If you follow the link to my web site, you'll find my name, phone number, and address are all freely available. I'm not trying to hide anything. I, too, am a fan of TAISMHO. I joined it long ago and have corresponded at great length with its founder John Taylor. I have became increasingly active in consumer legislation to try and help other homeowners. I have tried to get South Carolina to open their complaint databases, albeit unsuccessfully. I have spent countless hours on forums like (Screwed by Oakwood) answering consumer questions and debunking industry lies. I do this for free, and if you look at my web site you'll find one of the most comprehensive manufactured home consumer resources available for free as well: my link pages. So please forgive me if I fill in forms and include in the spaces provided my web site address. I'll fight this corrupt industry and HUD with anyone I can; but please don't question my motives or my honesty. I have sacrificed more than you'll ever know for this cause, and greed has never been the driving force. What has compelled me was the DISHONESTY that my wife and I faced, and that's why I'll continue in my cause. If memory serves me, I think you also purposely left out comments that I made when I visited your site. I believe I stated that I was glad someone took the time to try and organize such a complaint file because I felt it was sorely needed. That's why I've visited there and contributed what I did - because my aims are similar. Knowledge is power, and manufactured home consumers are in desperate need of it. I believe I also took considerable time to describe what happened to my wife and myself (trying to copy and paste didn't work very well). For the life of me, I don't understand why you think I took advantage of your site. I thought that's why you created it. I thought we were on the same side; I'm sorry if I was mistaken. Yours, Wes Johnson
