"It isn't your fault" "I need space" "I miss/love/need/want you" "I don't know what the problem is" Myself? When a mid-lifer says he misses me? I'd tell him that is a shame, and change the topic. Not even worth 2 seconds of time talking about with them. If he missed you he would be there for you. Hang on, and don't listen to his words, his actions are what you need to look at. If he cared, he'd be trying to save the relationship.

Nothing to think about, he is a mid-lifer and will say anything to leave gracefully. That is what most of them do, they try to keep things open until they are ready to dump the old life.
People that love another do hurt each other once in awhile, it happens. But, the mid-lifer is using your feelings to twist things to his advantage. The words sound nice but are lies. All mid-lifers do this one, some of the other lies they drop:
