Kathy, I am so proud of you! This wasn't for the peoples' sake, but for yours. You proved to yourself you can rise above all the pettiness, and to show others how gracious you are, is to show yourself also... You are a loving person, and can think back on this one, and know it for a fact! It's easy to be kind to those that are good to us, not as easy when in this much pain. It takes making teeny steps to get yourself built back up. Things you can be proud of in yourself again. When the mid-lifers leave, they take away a piece of us that is our very core. That causes us to doubt ourselves, to be afraid to trust again. You can make it through this intact. That is the best revenge for anyone "traded in" by a mid-lifer.
