Welcome Everyone, I've recently received some lousy news. Seems the X forgot to do his taxes correctly and pay them too!! He was kind enough to put my signature on them the years he was gone as we were legally married and I was not employed (lived on inheritance). So, my warning to all of yous in this state of limbo is to check out the STBX tax info and insist on copies of everything. I am currently writing the IRS a letter as an innocent spouse and including a copy of my divorce decree. This is also a good time to check your life insurance policies and update your beneficiary. You may even want to see about taking ownership of their life insurance policy so that it doesn't get cancelled or you and the children removed as beneficiaries. With how quick these ones can change their minds and abandon us, I highly recommend doing what you can to prepare your house in case the situation arises were it may have to be sold pronto. I am facing foreclosure (not unusual in a divorce) and continue to prepare it for sale & pack while still waiting for back support (over $10,000 now). Where I live there is a 2 yr. wait for a sheriff's sale. My X has neglected all of his financial responsibilities not just me & the girls. So, the creditors & collectors have traced him back to me and are now harrassing me. I have already changed my name legally back to my maiden name. I am very thankful for caller ID. We must take care of us.
