Whoops. Sorry Ron, I'm just now seeing this post.
I'm kind of on hiatus from model railroading right now, at least as far as my home layout goes. My basement isn't configured quite right for a model railroad, and after a sewer backup a year and a half ago, I decided that everything that goes in for a layout will be coated for protection from similar events in the future. However, getting the 2x4s I need for a benchwork construction proof-of-concept experiment painted with the moisture resistant paint currently has the project at a standstill. Not to mention that 2x4 acquisition has been a painfully slow process...
For what it's worth, the proof-of-concept, if successful, will allow an HO scale shelf layout along the walls of my basement, at about eye level (for me- others may need a step stool to see the layout). At a more conventional height will be a slightly larger N scale layout, with a fair amount of operational possibility (i.e. yard switching, industrial switching and the like). Below the layout, I'm hoping to install shelves to store my Ntrak modules so that they'll be out of the way, and safe from any minor water issues in the basement.
In the meantime, I picked up another, slightly different hobby, which is partly responsible for my forgetting to acquire the necessary 2x4s when the weather was conducive to painting them outside. For whatever reason, I'm finding the west side of the state is not as far away as I thought it was, which is where I'm finding stuff like the shot below to photograph...
.
I'll try to keep a closer eye on the site in the future.
