One thing I have been looking at is no longer running coal trains through Port Huron if possible. This is due to 2 factors:
1-The winding route through the "north end" hosts a tight curve at Thomas St and a gazillion crossings.
2- time of travel through the "north end" as a result of the above issues.
DTE coal trains for Harbor Beach are already restricted to 60 car trains due to the size of the unloading facilities at the plant. These trains are now going to take the PO&N from Pontiac to Wilmot..then east on the DC&S to Sandusky. Sandusky Branch from Sandusky to Poland. Carsonville SD from Poland to Palms. Harbor Branch Branch from Palms to DTE Harbor Beach.
nThis operation will re-open the PO&N between North Branch and Kingston. As a note..North Branch-Clifford is technically "in-service" for the occasional hot car for the C&O.
