Got a tip from my friend Patrick that Dunkin Donuts has some nifty coffee stirrers. After some gluing and painting I had some structural steel loads for Dresser Crane in Muskegon. Here is YMMU1 shoving its train south onto the Muskegon Heights Extension, heading down to Dresser, on 12/14/78. There are four loads of steel, as well as two Dresser boxcars that I picked up at train shows over the past year. They were set out at Dresser until there is a need for them. I figure an occasional large shipment may require a boxcar of equipment to accompany one of the large overhead traveling cranes produced there, shipped out by flatcar.
Here is a close up of the gons. Only a 70' mill gon can handle the full length stirrers, the rest need to be cut down to fit in shorter gondolas.
At some point I'll probably make more realistic looking loads, for now I'm just going with the quick and easy route seen here.
