Personally, I was able to put the last couple days to good use and moved a couple major projects closer to completion.
As promised (a couple months ago), I've uploaded a couple shots of my SD35W project. It's not quite finished yet, as I have yet to install handrails, window glazing and figure out a number board solution, but it's come a long way over the last week or so:
In addition to the SD35W, I've been working on another locomotive customization project. Toledo, Peoria & Western GP20, no. 2058, sat at the CERA depot in downtown Kokomo, Indiana (yes, I am aware this is a Michigan board ), before moving to TPW trackage on the east end of Logansport, IN, when Rail America lost the contract to operate the Winamac Southern Railway a while back. Since it moved to Logansport, it's been sitting in the TP&W's East Yard, along with one of the Saginaw Valley Railway (SGVY)'s ex-IC/ICG hoppers, typically used for seasonal sugar beet traffic on the Huron and Eastern. I've spent quite a bit of time in the Logansport and Kokomo areas over the last couple years, and wanted a way to represent that area on my layout a bit as well. It took a Life-Like GP18 painted for the New York, Susquehanna & Western, to get that ball rolling. With a bit of paint (more than I initially anticipated) and a couple pieces of styrene, I was able to bring a bit of the TP&W to my layout, although I still have a couple details to add (not to mention TP&W decals)...
Both models need quite a bit of work yet before I'll be able to declare them "complete," but the SD35W project is starting to look more like a working locomotive, and less like a big mess in the middle of my work space.
