Jumping in on the last few hours of YMMU01's shift on tuesday 11-7-78, the yard job is shoving north to Clay St in Muskegon, stopping to throw the switch to enter the Dock tracks. The C&O transfer run, with the 4813, is stopped at the South Horn switch in the background with four empty tank cars from Hooker in Montague.
YMMU with 9073 shoves its string of empty boxcars in Dock track 3, while the C&O transfer waits. Thats a phone call box in front of the C&O loco. With YMMU clear of the Muskegon Secondary, the C&O 4813 gets permission from the South Horn switch to Jefferson St and sets out its empties on track 7.
The 9073 and 4813 wait in the clear as the C&O South Horn yard job with the 4824 pulls south past the 11th St Dock.
WIth the C&O yard job cleared, the 4813 heads light northward back to North Yd past stored cars at the 10th St Dock.
The C&O jobs out of the way, the 9073 grabs a load for Shaw Walker.
9073 pulls a load out of Shaw Walker before spotting the inbound. I have a small expansion planned to give some space to the Shaw Walker plant (and extend its siding!). After this the 9073 with take the Shaw load and empty tank cars down to Muskegon Yd to add to the partly assembled consist for MUKM later that evening.
First though the YMMU gets held up at Jefferson St for Detroit & Milwaukee train 652 to clear the junction, headed to Durand.
YMMU tied up at the dock. The sunset effect is natural, through the basement window! Only problem is the sun would be setting in the south to have gotten this photo on location!
