First train to use the new track is MUKM5, tied onto its train at Muskegon Yard and ready to depart on 11/5/78. I've been enjoying having this set of power on the through train...looks just like the head end of an ELLA in Kalamazoo circa 1994!
Here is the power passing over what will be the US31 overpass. The boxcar in the background is on the long spur to Michigan Paper Box, which hasn't been completed yet (ran out of track nails )
The train stops just clear of the south end of the yard to line the switch back to the main:
And this view is of KMMU5 staged and ready to pull into town. The new expansion runs along the back wall. My eventual plan is to have a removeable bridge to continue the main line to the left and under the table to connect to a main line loop.
The two legs of the wye haven't been connected yet...pending completion of the other leg of the layout.
