The name is spelled various ways - Makemson, Mekemson, McComson. The family came from Maryland about 1780, later settling in Harrison and Pendleton Cos., Ky. They operated a mill & distillery on Mill Creek in Harrison Co.
The family had seven sons, all of whom fought in the Rev. War with two being killed at Ft. Mifflin.
