Jim, good points you have for sure. I also had not thought of your option posted below for having the youth and lady angler tourneys as additional tournaments... that may be another good solution. My take on the particular example you gave though would be that if those four guys could coax two keepers to their boat on a day when nobody else could, then they deserve all the points they would get.
I am proud of the way the club is handling this discussion. Everybody seems open to suggestions and new ideas, and not closed-minded. I don't feel real strongly about any one of the issues...like I said in my post, I have landed on just about every side of every arguement since I started thinking about what changes are needed, if any. All the proposals would probably work fine, and may be fun to try.
The one thing that concerns me about all the discussion though is how widely spread we are and what a wide number of possibilities we have facing us. I hope we can land on a combination that satisfies the majority of the club, without some dwelling on a particular change they wanted that didn't get adopted. If we can all agree on the majority of the points issues, and keep participation and club activity strong, we will have made the right choice.
