Thanks for the advice Scott. I will give it a try. My elbow finally feels 100% and I am ready to start training for a comp coming up in 3 months. I am guessing my training has been incorrect. I very seldom went lower than a 3 board. I have good power off the 3 board, now I just have to get used to having the really heavy weight closer to my chest. Sometimes I think it is all in my head and maybe I am thinking about the amount of weight on the bar. Did you ever have to overcome any mind games while benching? --Previous Message-- : : take a few weeks at two board and get : up to 625 there then drop to a 1 board : and get to 600 55o will be a smoke show : off the chest : --Previous Message-- : That was a very good point. I think I : was bending at the elbow in any : direction to make the bar touch chest. : I was getting frustrated and was doing : anything possible just to touch in the : shirt. It can be a very frustrating : process! I can lockout over 625Lb : (using a 3 board) but then sometimes : 500lb about an inch from my chest does : not go so well. As I get closer to my : chest it seams I start getting out of : the groove. I do bring the bar towards : belly. I am going to focus on staying : tight in shoulders and just moving the : bar down with shoulder motion and : keeping my wrist and elbows in same : position throughout the lift. : : --Previous Message-- : : keeping the collar higher will allow u : to touch a lower weight. remember at : the shoulder not elbow. : --Previous Message-- : thanks! I will pay attention to that. : I : noticed if I don't tuck way in my : shoulders also feel better. maybe I am : over tucking! I also heard that I : should twist the sleeves so the logo is : on the outside of my arms. I will try : anything right now! : : --Previous Message-- : that is good question. sounds like u : are : over tucking. i used to go to bill : crawfords and bench so i'm not pulling : this out of the air. elbow and forearms : need to stay in line. rotate at the : shoulder in a natural line to keep from : pinching anything. elbow at 90 shoulder : up and down. takes practice but that is : why some people can touch 300 under : there max. hope that helps. : : --Previous Message-- : I went back and looked at some video : and : noticed something. I use an index : finger on ring grip and when I get : close to touching chest my elbow is way : in and my wrist is out wide yet. I : think this is what is putting so much : pressure on my elbow. Should the elbow : remain directly under the wrist the : entire time? I just used the bar and : toyed around with my elbow placement : and I noticed if I keep my elbow lined : up with my wrist i didn't get any pain. : I just assumed that "tucking : elbows" meant to pull your elbows : as far in as you can. Is it important : to have everything lined up. I am : consistently working with over 600lbs : and I want get this elbow and form : issue figured out before I really : damage myself. : : --Previous Message-- : I doubt it is the shirt. Are you trying : to twist the sleeves of the shirt after : it is on? When you bench are your : elbows directly under the bar? THey : need to be or it will torque your : elbows. First suggestion is to stay out : of the shirt and let it heal. Video : your bar path from the side and watch : your elbow track. Make sure they are : under the bar all the time. : : --Previous Message-- : Thanks for the advice that everyone has : given in regards to touching with my : katana. I finally touched yesterday! : Now I have a problem with my elbow. I : am having some pain on the inside of my : elbow, it hurts even when applying : pressure to the little bone on the : inside of elbow. I am not sure if it : is sore from tucking elbows too far in? : Is it possible that my shirt seam was : in a bad spot and was putting pressure : on a nerve or something? I try to keep : elbows flared somewhat, this doesn't : seem to bother elbow, but when I tuck : it in is when I can feel it. Just : tucking elbows in without even having a : bar in hand puts strain on the elbow. : Is anybody familiar with this or know : what could be the cause? Is my form : possibly the issue? : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
