The supershirts would have to stop and reverse the inertia of the weight. If the velocity of the bar is faster then the shirt would use most of its energy in stopping the inertia (velocity times mass). If the velocity is slower then the shirt would have a greater reserve of energy which could be used to provide an explosion from the bottom. Assumption is that the shirt has a finite energy capacity in the fabric. In order to take advantage of the energy reserve in the shirt, you would have to pull it in at the bottom to 'load' the shirt. Nico and Mike have been helping me understand how to 'pull' the bar in using the lats and rhomboids.
