In fact, we are doing just that...Although I don't know whether JD is a Liberal Party member or not, I'd like to draw your attention to what the Liberal Party is actually doing regarding issues of concern. To know what the issues of immediate attention, I bring to your attention the report isssued by Martin Hassner that is posted on page 1 of our web site. (And this is only the beginning.) We hope to state our party's opinion on them in the near future. So, as you can see, there are many many major issues of importance and the Liberal Party is indeed working on many of them. I hope this will be helpful to you and that you will be - or least consider - taking a more active role in party activities. The report reads as follows: Report from the Issues Committee Our thanks to Ms. Elide Michel for generously hosting this meeting. The following issues were selected for primary consideration and development at this time: New York City: Transportation, education, housing and 'Judges for sale'. National: The 'Patriot' Act (detention and exportation for torture in particular), Social Security These issues will be couched in the Liberal Party's concerns about national budgetary policies designed to starve the country of funds for program services. Anyone interested in submitting substantive materials, thoughts, comments, opinions on the above issues are invited to forward their comments to Issues Director, Martin Hassner at libleader@hotmail.com. You are so right that there are major issues that we need to examine and work on.
The ad hoc Issues Committee met on Thursday, April 14, 2005 to select those issues that will become the foundation of the Liberal Party's policies and program.
Regional (statewide): Legislative reform, education, health insurance
