The other problem was that our long-standing "so-called ally", the Democratic Party, did not want to see an independent third party thinking and acting on its own. Thus the creation of the Working Families Party in an attempt to replace us. Your points are very well taken in that a return to ballot status for us will be tough, but it is not impossible. While we don't have the finances that other parties have and we don't have the benefactors that the Independence and Working Families Party have, we have much to offer to anyone who wants to see a strong, independent, common sense party, become part of New York's political mainstream. Unlike the Independence, Working Families, Greens and other third parties, we have a history and a name. And unlike the Working Families Party, we are a subsidiary of no one. We've paid a high price for our independence but we have it. In our opinion, we'd like to see other independent third parties approach us to see how we can work together. We think that if other third parties join us under our banner, together we third party members stand a much better chance of being successful. We would very much like to sit with those from the Independence, Green and other third parties to see what we have in common and how we can work together. While the word "Liberal" has been bastardized by both Democrats and Republicans, we believe that there are many in New York who will join us if they see an independent party that will work either on our own or with others as we see fit. Time will tell. Thanks very much for your continued support. All the best to you, Richard Sedlisky
