I hope that what's left of the party doesn't just run "anyone" -- because those 10 or 20 thousand votes could spoil a party like the Green Party's chances of getting back on the ballot. As for me, I've developed a solid group of serious petition gatherers in Suffolk County, and we will be on the ballot in 2005 as an affiliate of the American Reform Party. If things go well, we will have a charismatic, well-known candidate for governor in 2006. I hope that you all can join us. If you are or were an official in the Liberal Party, we'd be honored to have you serve in the same position in this brand new party. County chairs are being sought throughout the state. I got the Liberal Party on the ballot in Suffolk in 2003, and it was a nightmare. People didn't want to sign these petitions, Dems knocked candidates off and didn't want the line at all, people told us after that they liked our candidate but couldn't pull the lever for him because of his liberal affiliation -- and being all the way down on "Row G" didn't help. A real travesty. The signature requirements are out of control, and the name "Liberal" scares average folks to the hills.
